There's no messing about with cars or parking to get to the beach at this fabulous apartment. Overlooking Crooklets Beach, you can feel the sand between your toes, smell, hear and see the sea from your two-bed home from home. With versatile, modern accommodation it's ideally suited for one or even two couples, or a small family.

And to top it all off, you have the peace and quiet of the beach – yet the facilities of Bude are within easy walking distance of 0.5 miles, making it a convenient place to stay. This smart, family-friendly apartment on the second floor offers a contemporary design for a comfortable break. The beautifully light and airy open-plan kitchen and living area affords panoramic views of the golf course, beach and cliffs.

Bring the outside in by opening up the triple sliding doors onto the large south-facing, glass-fronted balcony, with its garden furniture and gorgeous ocean views. There are two spacious super-king-size bedrooms with rear views overlooking the coastal path on the clifftops. One has an en-suite shower room, while the second can become a twin bedroom by request.

To the rear of the building, there are shared showers (perfect to shower off the sand), and a private storage space – ideal for cleaning and storing wetsuits and bodyboards. If you're feeling energetic, join the South West Coast Path that runs past this apartment. It will give you a different perspective of the coastline and is sure to leave you feeling energised (if a little tired!).

Or wander the beaches of Bude, including Summerleaze with its famous sea pool, a semi-natural facility where you can swim safely – and for free – in seawater whatever the weather. Further afield, learn about Arthurian legend at the magical village and castle of Tintagel (19.5 miles).
